Primary School Vice Principal Student Wellbeing [August 2022 - July 2023]

I lead the Primary School wellbeing team working closely with MS/HS counterparts and was the Designated Safeguarding Lead. I was a member of the ISP Primary Leadership Team and enjoyed an Early Years teaching assignment.

Achievements and accomplishments:

 

  • Led Child Protection training throughout the year to new members of staff as well as volunteers within our school community. 

  • Co-led the schoolwide review of our definition of wellbeing

  • Co-delivered a Work:life balance presentation at the ISP Learning Forward PD day (April 2023)

  • Introduced 1:1 meetings with students to build a RAFT to prepare for move to a new school/city/country as well as a series of sessions for students identified as needing support with behaviour, confidence, social skills

  • Introduced 1:1 meetings with individual students focussing on behaviour, confidence, social skills over a six-eight week period

  • Introduced individual sessions with students to help build a RAFT to prepare for move to a new school/city/country

  • In conjunction with the school nurse, introduced wellbeing check ins with all new students within a few weeks of starting school

  • PYPX mentoring of four students focussing on wellbeing (with themes including PTSD, Anxiety, Autism and communication)

  • Member of ISP’s DEIJ Professional Learning Community (PLC)

Head of Admissions [August 2017 - July 2021]

Mont’Kiara International School (M’KIS), Kuala Lumpur

Led, managed, and evaluated all aspects of Admissions. Implemented protocols and practices ensuring a personalized and smooth process for students and families from initial inquiry to enrolment and beyond resulting in a smooth transition for all. Member of Admin Council/Senior Leadership Team.

Achievement and accomplishments:

  • Year-on-year increase in enrolment from 2017/2018 - 2020/2021

  • Introduced virtual tours and on-line assessments as standard practice during the Covid-19 pandemic

  • Implemented (January 2020) OpenApply, an on-line admissions portal, and provided in-house training to Admissions and other teams.

  • Ensured Admissions Department complied with GDPR and Malaysian data protection requirements

  • Created, regularly reviewed and - as required - updated departmental documentation to ensure consistency, clarity and a departmental ‘voice’

​Student Support Services Coordinator [August 2013 - July 2017]

Mont’Kiara International School (M’KIS), Kuala Lumpur

 

Led our English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Learning Support Programme and ensured an appropriate programme of support and services for individual students. Served as Pre Kindergarten Age 3 - G12  Student Support Team Chair and liaised  with external providers (OT, SLP, Ed Psych). Co-chaired M’KIS Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Focus Group C [Student Support] as part of the accreditation process and Safety & Emergency Committee. Member of Admin Council/Senior Leadership Team.

 

 

Achievements and Accomplishments:​

  • Organized a series of PD weekend workshops with world experts Dr. Joyce Mills; Professor Tony Attwood; Michelle Garcia Winner and Dr. Virginia Rojas. These sessions enhanced awareness and understanding of strategies to best serve the needs of individual students.

  • Implemented, upon my proposals being approved by the board, various programmes [The ES co-teaching model, the WIDA MODEL Language assessment and MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing] schoolwide. All data was analyzed accordingly and informed curriculum and planning for individual students and cohorts.

  • Created and updated documentation ensuring consistency and clarity in schoolwide practice: Wrote Child Protection Policy, MAP Protocol, Retention Policy, Bereavement S.O.P.
