The adage, "A picture is worth a thousand words", is attributed to the advertising executive, Frederick Barnard, and has roots in Henrik Ibsen’s original phrase, “A thousand words leave not the same deep impression as does a single deed.”.

With this notion in mind, I want to share Brenna Quinlan’s How Privilege Works image.

This powerful image reminds us of the range of privileges we all have. The notion of privilege and privileges and all that it entails on the conscious and subconscious level and with respect to the local and global context resonates. This has been uppermost in my mind especially whilst reading Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste, Dolly Chugh’s The Person You Mean to Be and Ibrahim X. Kendi’s How to be an Antiracist.

With respect to the notion that "a picture is worth a thousand words", which images do you find most powerful when wishing to illustrate a point relating to diversity, equity or other pressing issues?
