Cross Cultural Communication [Blogpost 121]
As a result of feeling a little discombobulated with all the uncertainty at present, today’s blogpost is on the shorter side.
Riccardi’s 2014 TED Talk, Cross cultural communication, was recently shared with me. This is, both in terms of content and delivery, a wonderful TED Talk and relevant for anyone working/living in an environment where cultures intersect.
Riccardi engages in, what he calls, “edutainment” (education + entertainment) and shares personal experiences and observations pertaining to cultural perceptions, differences, and more. In the interest of not spoiling your enjoyment of the TED Talk, I will refrain from sharing specific examples he shares. He ends his talk by referencing the importance of drawing on the various cultural strands to create a new culture (“a global mindset”) that transcends national boundaries. Despite not using the term, Third Culture Kid, he is describing experiences very familiar to Third Culture Kids.
During these unprecedented and challenging times when staying at home is the new norm, it is wonderful to be able to use this time to learn more about our world and to expand our knowledge and understanding on both a personal and professional level.
Stay safe, stay well!
