Self-care for Educators - Part II [Blogpost 106]

I spent a few days in Manila at the start of the winter break. Aside from enjoying visiting various sites in Intramuros such as Manila Cathedral, San Agustin Church, Fort Santiago and Museo Filipino, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Manila and catching The Empty Chair Project - an exhibition much more interesting than perhaps the title implies!

The exhibition included some wonderful pieces by Daniel dela Cruz, a Phillipino artist of whom I hadn’t heard, but nevertheless whose work - and especially a piece entitled, It’s All About Balance - resonated with me. This piece (snapshot above and full image below) serves as a healthy reminder to all of how the pulls and pushes of life impact our balance.

Continuing with the notion of self-care and the quest for balance, it seems apt to share the following three images (one of which was previously shared in my August 15, 2019’s blogpost, Self-care for Educators) as well as This teacher’s list of ‘101 ways to cope with stress’ is brilliant.

Moving forwards, how will you ensure that within your school setting self-care is a priority this semester?
