Cognizant of the return (recent or imminent) to school (be it on campus, virtual, or hybrid) and the ongoing stress due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, it seems ever more apt to reiterate the importance of prioritizing self-care and wellbeing. With this uppermost in mind, I wish to share both Sylvia Duckworth’s Types of self-care image from September 2020 and some pertinent quotes:
“Self-care is a deliberate choice to gift yourself
with people, places, things, events, and opportunities that recharge our
personal battery and promote whole health — body, mind, and spirit.”
~ Laurie Buchanan
“We humans have lost the wisdom of genuinely resting and relaxing. We worry too much.
We don’t allow our bodies to heal, and we don’t allow our minds and hearts to heal.”
~ Thich Nhat Hanh
“An empty lantern provides no light.
Self-care is the fuel that allows your light to shine brightly.”
~ Unknown
Mindful of the phrase “self-care is not selfish”, the quotes above and further to previous posts, Self-care for Educators (August 2019) and Self-care for Educators [part II] (January 2020), how will you prioritize self-care?
